Principal's Corner

Dear Mustang Families,

As we embrace the vibrant spring, we have a few important reminders to share with you to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.

Head Topping: We have noticed some students engaging in "head topping," which can cause injury to others. We ask parents to converse with their children about refraining from this behavior to ensure everyone's safety.

School and Bus Expectations: We kindly request that parents review the following expectations with their students:

Be respectful and kind

Be responsible

Be safe

Take care of property

Car Pick-Up/Drop-Off: To maintain a smooth and safe traffic flow, we kindly request that parents remain in their cars during drop-off and pick-up times. This helps us manage the process efficiently and ensures the safety of all children. Our staff will be on hand to assist your child in and out of the vehicle. In addition, please be sure to be on time to pick up your students from after-school clubs. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Weather: As the weather changes and fluctuates during the Spring Season, students must come to school dressed appropriately for the conditions. Please ensure your child wears tennis shoes and warm clothing, including hats, gloves, and coats, during colder days and lighter, breathable clothing during warmer days. This will help them stay comfortable, focused throughout the school day, and safe on the playground.

KES thanks you for your attention to these matters.
We appreciate your ongoing support in making our school a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Andrew Short and Brandi Peden

Dear Mustang Parents/Guardians,

We want to inform you that 3rd through 5th grade students will take the DCAS test from May 5th to May 9th, with makeup tests scheduled for the following week, from May 12th to May 15th. These tests will be administered in the morning and consist of two language arts tests and three math tests.

As the upcoming tests will be conducted on computers, please ensure that your child brings their laptop to school fully charged each day, along with the necessary charging cord. Additionally, it would be highly beneficial for your child to have a pair of headphones or earbuds for the duration of the tests.

To ensure your child is well-prepared, we kindly request that you ensure their attendance on these days and avoid scheduling any morning appointments. Students must also get a good night's sleep and have a nutritious breakfast to perform at their best during the tests.

Please note that if a student is late, they cannot test on that date. We will have a designated area in the school where students will work on alternate assignments until the test is completed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Message from the Transportation Office

Hello parents,

We are beginning to work on the bus pre-registration and registration for SY 25-26.

-              If your student is a transitioning student (Elementary to Middle or Middle to High School) the bus pass will be printed and issued to the school for the student to pick up and bring home.

-              If you have a transitioning 2nd grader going to 3rd grade who previously had a pink bus pass, A white bus pass will be printed and issued to the school for the student to pick up and bring home.

-              Non-transitioning students' bus passes are valid until the sponsor's DEROS date shown on the pass, and new passes are not required unless the student is enrolled past that DEROS date or the date is extended.

-              To update the DEROS date on a bus pass, the date must first be updated in the school's ASPEN system for our office to verify.

-              If the DEROS date in our system (shown on the bus pass) expires before August of the upcoming school year, a new pass will not be issued until the student is re-registered at the school and the DEROS is updated.

*** If your family has or is due to relocate out of the Kaiserslautern School Zone this summer, or if you are not planning on your child(ren) utilizing the school transportation service in SY25/26, a response is required stating the last date of ridership. This will schedule the appropriate date for removing your child(ren) from the projected passenger listing, facilitating an accurate estimation of next year’s bus requirements.***

If you will have a new rider submit an application to our organizational email address (Kaiserslautern.SBO@dodea.edu) w/.jpeg photo(s) -  labeled with child’s Last, First name. (subject line on email: “Pre-Registration SY25/26- Sponsor Last name”) placing all children on one application.

Please assist us in ensuring that there is no interruption of your continuing students' bussing services by checking your student's bus pass expiration, being diligent in your school reregistration, and keeping your current DEROS up to date with the school.

Note: Please understand that you might receive multiple emails if you have students on different buses. The system generates emails by bus #.

Thank you

Respectfully
